Do you know what day it is today?
It is International Nurses Day.
International Nurses Day is celebrated on
the birthday of British nurse Florence Nightingale to commemorate the
contributions of nurses to society on May 12th.
The International Council of Nurses (ICN)
has announced the theme for International Nurses Day (IND) 2023: "Our
Nurses. Our Future." ICN President, Dr. Pamela Cipriano, explained that
the theme sets out what ICN wants for the future of nursing to address global
health challenges and improve global health for all. We need to learn from the
lessons of the pandemic and translate them into actions for the future that
ensure nurses are protected, respected, and valued.
In the face of unprecedented challenges and
uncertainties, you have been the backbone of our healthcare systems, tirelessly
caring for the sick, the vulnerable, and the marginalized. Your selflessness,
expertise, and compassion have been a source of comfort and healing to
countless individuals and families in their time of need. Your work is not only
a testament to your unwavering commitment to the nursing profession but also a
symbol of hope and resilience in the face of adversity. As we celebrate International
Nurses Day, let us all take a moment to reflect on your remarkable
contributions and the impact that you have had on our world.
BK-LUPIC supports and encourages all nurses who are
doing their best to improve the health of people worldwide.
