Global Education Support (a.k.a. GES) aimed to establish policies to improve the quality of nursing education and create a foundation for
the development of competent nurses in Kyrgyz Republic, Bright Kyrgyzstan believed that competent nurses could be contributed to
the health of the population by raising a level of health care.

Kyrgyz State Medical Academy

Goals
Development of master plan for competency building in nursing education
  • • Identified the current status and needs to improve nursing education and research competencies
  • • Improved teaching abilities in order to develop a needs-based master plan
  • • Established a master plan and implemented feasibility studies
Changes
The educational objectives, goals, detailed implementation plans, and contents for
the development of nursing department at KSMA have been established

Improvement of nursing practicum education in Kyrgyz State Medical Academy

Improvement of nursing practicum education
  • • Assessed the current state of nursing practice education and identified areas for improvement
  • • Improved the nursing practice training course based on the identified status and needs
  • • Ensuring the availability of practical learning environments and resources for the implementation of nursing practical education
  • • Training of personnel for guidance in nursing practice education
Changes
  • • Improving practical education courses with a focus on integrated nursing practice curriculum
  • • Development and revision of practical courses
  • • Establishment of a plan for utilizing practical resources
  • • Improvement of the practical laboratory environment and acquisition of equipment
  • • Development of a field practice instructor training program (module) and implementation of online and offline education

Korea-Kyrgyz joint research for Kyrgyz nursing education policy establishment

Goals
Proposal for nursing education policy to enhance
the competence of nurses in Kyrgyz Republic
  • • Understanding the nursing education policy of Kyrgyz Republic and identifying key issues and improvement needs
  • • Developing a revised nursing education policy reflecting identified issues and requests, and finalizing a policy improvement plan with proven feasibility
  • • Agreement on the final policy proposal
Changes
  • • Combining the voices of the field and expert opinions to improve nursing education policy
  • • Improving nursing education policy through the revamp of nursing education
  • • Gathering opinions and sharing policy proposals related to nursing qualifications
  • • Delivery of the final nursing education policy proposal to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyz Republic, with agreement on efforts towards the development of nursing education in Kyrgyz Republic
    • - Operation of nursing bachelor's degree education courses and transfer courses
    • - Implementation of standards for admission to nursing education programs
    • - Introducing and enforcing professional standards and competencies for nurses in nursing education, as well as implementing licensing requirements for qualified nurses
